My Story and journey

I am an Aeromedical Flight Communications Specialist, Aeromedical Flight Coordinator (IAMTCS), Critical Care Paramedic, Internationally Registered and Credentialed EMS Educator Levels I and II (NAEMSE), Associate Instructor World Health Organization (WHO) and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO),   Emergency Medical Service Specialist, Internationally certified Emergency Medical Services Educator, certified and registered by and with the American National Association of EMS Educators NAEMSE): I am a Certified Emergency Care and Treatment in Disasters (ECAT) and Mass Casualty Management (MCM) Instructor World Health Organization and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

I am also a Geriatric Education for Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) Professionals Coordinator of the American Geriatric Society (AGS).

I am a level 9 Instructor Trainer and independent training center director certified by the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI). I have been in Public Service at the Governmental Level for past 35 years, out of these 29 years been involved in Prehospital Emergency Medical Services for the past 22 years, of these 22 years I have been involved in Emergency Medical Services Education for the the past 16 years.

I decided to pursue Prehospital Emergency Medicine back in 1997 as an intrinsic motivating factor. My journey and career plan began when my dad had a seizure many years ago which resulted in my calling the Fire Department for emergency assistance which took them 25 minutes to respond to a location 5 minutes away on a Sunday morning no traffic at 2:00 am.

When they did arrive he was not immediately transport to the hospital, he subsequently went into cardiac arrest and no Basic Life Support initiated, 50 minutes later he was being transport in a body bag by the local funeral home transport service under police escort as he supposedly died at home.

Fire Department personnel don't pronounce individuals dead on scene but he was transported in manner indicating being deceased to be pronounced dead before arrival (DBA) at the hospital.

This tragic ordeal formed the foundation for my chosen career and mission to change and develop the Emergency Medical Services in my country and region.
